Choosing a Country

Today we got to choose any country to study about. We learned so many things today. I think that everyone enjoyed doing our activity. When you got all of your facts together then you would make something to go with your facts like a game, powerpoint, or even a newspaper! Everyone had fun today and they had a great time even though it took a while to do, we got it done.

The End of Our Japanese Adventure

Today we researched the rest of the Japan facts that we needed. To show all the facts we learned about Japan we could make a powerpoint, a game, or a travel brochure. After evryone finished making their display of facts,we heated up our Japanese rice and ate. When we finished eating, we shared our powerpoint but, unfortunately, the people who made a game didn't have time to share,so we will share them next week.Until next blog, sayonara!!!!

You're Not My Mummy

Today we studied my absolute favorite place. Let me give you some hints. It has pyramids, mummies, and the great Nile river. Today in gifted we learned about Egyptian heiroglyphs. (letters from ancient Egypt.) We also read a readers theater about Egypt. My favorite part is when our librarian taught us how to make a clip art movie. At the end of the day we all made a rebus to challenge our parents.

Learning about Egypt:)

Today we did many different things. We have now started learning about Egypt! We learned so many facts about Ancient Egypt and Modern Day Egypt. We learned about this beetle called the scarab beetle. One was placed over the heart of a mummy! We also made a sculpture of a beetle out of soap. On one side of the beetle it looks like a regular beetle and on the other side it has a personal logo that was about you! We all had a wonderful time learning about Egypt.

Last Day in the Outback :(

Today is our last day focusing on Australia. We are all very sad. We have learned so much about Australia. We only have time for 3 more continents to learn about. We compared Australia to the U.S.A. We discovered that Australia and America are about the same size, but the population of Australia is 285,949,482 less than America! We finished our other projects we did before. Then, we listened to a legend and we made our own. Finally, we all tasted Australian cuisine, lamingtons! YUM!!! :)

Fun in Australia!

We created boomerangs about Australian aborigines. Mallory's boomerang even had a timeline that showed the gold rush in Australia. If you didn't want to make a boomerang you could make a powerpoint. Most friends did research on Australia's climate, economy, education, religion, and language. Tara and I did not get done. Ian got finshed with all his work. He brought coins from Australia to share. One coin was 2 cents! Australia has 6 states and is a country in a continent! We have had a "bonzer" day!

The best day ever!

Today was the best day ever because we got to dig for fossils in a brownie. Also, we reserched Antarctica's resources.I think the best was eating the brownies. Also, another thing is that we picked an animal and wrote alot of facts about them like what their classification is,what are their eating habits, what is their habitat, what are their predators, their description, and 3 special facts about the Blue Whale,Squid,Humpback Whale,Emperor Penguin,Weddell Seal,Minke Whale, etc.
Until next time,

Chill Out

Chill Out, sit back, and enjoy the cold weather of Antarctica! Today we learned about Antarctica! Did you know Edith Ronne was the first female explorer, and the first person to go to Antarctica with her husband? Right now the temperature in Antarctica is -15 degrees F. Robert Scott was killed by frostbite and Ernest Shackleton feared frostbite. Roald Amundsen lived near Fredrickstad. I know all these people seem so different, but they all have at least one thing in common. Can you guess what it is? Yes, that is correct. They were ALL explorers that explored Antarctica!
