Merry Christmas from Norway!!

Today was awesome!!! We learned all about Norway. We got to read about trolls and read funny Christmas stories by Jan Brett ( author of various childrens books.) During stations we researched facts on Norway, we wrote troll stories, we wrote Santa letters, and finished our most recent service project, T.A.G. (Talented And Gifted for more information see recent blog.) Then at the end of the day we ate Norwegian cookies, drank glog, and debriefed. By Ian Christopher Jobst

Today we visited Norway!!!

Thanksgiving Kids

Today we talked about Thanksgiving. We played a Catagories Game about Thankgiving. We read a play and did some persuasive writing. Then we reasearched European Harvest Festivals, made Thanksgiving cards, and ate popcorn. So Happy Thankgiving!

A Day at Stonehenge

Today we have "visited" Stonehenge. We have learned all about it. We have also made our own pourquoi tales. We even constructed our own Stonehenge! We've all had a great time.

England American Style

Today was awesome! We read A Midsummer Night's Dream. We also got to research and make English porcelain. During stations some read, some researched, and some finished our community project (see other blogs). At the end of the day we all sat at the table, drank "High Tea", and discussed what we learned. Altogether it was another good day for Mrs. Grffith's students!

England Frenzy

Today we talked about England. We got to make family crests like what the knights wore. We got to read "A Midsummer Night's Dream"by William Shakespeare. The story was wonderful,and it was very imaginative! We got to taste European Shortbread Cookies, and they were delicious! Today was definitely an "English Frenzy"!

Our Poster Contest

We entered a poster contest. We had to draw a picture of George Washington Carver. I liked to draw my poster because I like to draw posters. We had a great day today, as usual. I wish everyday we would have gifted because Mrs.Griffith ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tall Tellers

Today , we read tall tales ,researched tall tales , and wrote our own tall tales . It was fun for all of us and we can 't wait until next time ! We also tasted four diffrent kinds of apples: Gala , Red Delicious , Golden Delicious , and Granny Smith . The best part was planting apple seeds . It was truly amazing ! By Tara R .

The Puppeteers

Today, we talked about feelings and empathy. Then, we each wrote a small skit! We made puppets to act out our skits. Mine was about a girl who was really mean to someone. Joshua's was about a little boy who was having a birthday. Ian's was about 2 little girls who were really mean to a little boy. Mallory and Allison did not get to share their's today because we ran out of time! I think that we are now offical puppeteers!

Today at Coldwater Elementary School we discussed our newsleters and service projects (which is making 200 bags for Winn-Dixie). We read 3 chapters of Around the World in 80 days. Making our friendly letters

Today we made our friendly letters to the person who we are going to send our Flat Stanley to. We had to do the date, greeting,body,closing, and of course our signature. We had so much fun and we all can't wait till we send our Flat Stanleys because we think that's going to be so much fun. Today we decided who we were going to send them to. We are going to send them to Washington D.C! The people who we are sending our Flat Stanleys to seem very exciting. I hope that the people that will get our Flat Stanley will be happy and will want to do lots of things with it.

Flat Stanley Autobiographies

Today, we read some of the book Around the World in 80 Days. Alot of people liked it.
Why do you think the english man doesn't have any family members or friends? What character are you most like? We talked about autobiographies and biographies also diaries and journals.
We then went to stations. The first station we did was writing our dedications and our autobiographies. The second station was researching a continent. We wrote 10 facts and then drew a picture of the continent. The last station was reading more Flat Stanley books.We all had fun today at gifted. I hope you readers had a great day too!

Flat Stanley Project

Today we are so busy creating our Flat Stanley projects to send around the world. David has named his Flat Bob. Chelsea is calling hers Flat Maria. Andrew and Dylan have named theirs Flat Will and Flat Steve. We have just finished reading the book Flat Stanley. It was terrific and we recommend it to all the kids in the world. I wonder where our Flat Stanley's will go first?
